Information on Site Surveys

Defra has written to the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) to clarify the Government’s position on undertaking ecological surveys at this time. It has advised CIEEM members that outdoor work, including ecological surveying, should continue where they can follow Public Health England guidelines on outdoor work. If ecological survey work is deemed necessary, we will undertake a specific COVID-19 risk assessment for each site NEYEDC or its surveyors intend to visit. If the survey can be safely undertaken, NEYEDC and its surveyors will work in accordance with the CIEEM advice on undertaking site-based ecological work to ensure government policy and advice regarding coronavirus and social distancing is adhered to at all times.
